There Is No Way Out Of This Box

by Karl Denninger

Go ahead folks – tell me how we can simply ignore this. How we can pretend that the outstanding debt does not have to come back down to reasonable levels. That these levels are “reasonable” – and that these rates of growth are “reasonable.”

This is the “magic of compounding” writ large – and in a fashion that is going to inflict severe pain on our population – and the longer we wait to deal with it, the worse it will be.

Iran Sanctions are Precursor to War

by Congressman Ron Paul

Last week the House overwhelmingly approved a measure to put a new round of sanctions on Iran. If this measure passes the Senate, the United States could no longer do business with anyone who sold refined petroleum products to Iran or helped them develop their ability to refine their own petroleum. The sad thing is that many of my colleagues voted for this measure because they felt it would deflect a military engagement with Iran. I would put the question to them, how would Congress react if another government threatened our critical trading partners in this way?

Away With The Manger

by Chuck Norris

Jake Towne, 2010 Candidate for US Congress

How can voters believe that any candidate will represent them by tightening the purse-strings on wasteful government spending if they fail to start with themselves?
Jake Towne, an independent candidate for U.S. House in PA-15, believes government needs salary cuts – and will start with his own. Towne will only accept the estimated 2008 median household income in the 15th district of $58,080 instead of $174,000. After taxes, Towne will donate the remainder of his salary to local non-profit hospitals to help provide health care to those who need it the most in the district.
